Overview
Tucked away in the leafy, quiet enclave of Diamond Creek, Melbourne, Lily Residence is a masterclass in calm—where minimalist architecture, intentional spatial flow, and connection to nature converge to craft a retreat of quiet luxury. This project encompasses schematic design and design development for a multi-level home, with a $1,800,000 budget dedicated to curating spaces that prioritize stillness, light, and understated elegance. At its core, the residence embraces zen principles: the double-height living area (framed by floor-to-ceiling glass) blurs lines between interior and the surrounding bushland, while neutral textures—warm oak accents, soft linen upholstery, and polished concrete floors—create a muted, grounding palette. The open-plan layout avoids clutter: a floating media console (lit by subtle recessed lighting) anchors the living zone, paired with low-profile seating that invites relaxed, unhurried moments. A sculptural black-and-white artwork adds deliberate visual weight without disrupting the calm, while the glass-railed staircase (with dark timber treads) ascends with quiet grace, maintaining the home’s airy, uncluttered feel. Every design choice serves the goal of serenity: the site’s natural bush backdrop is framed as a living “feature wall,” while controlled natural light (filtered through large windows) shifts gently throughout the day, enhancing the sense of calm. Lily Residence isn’t just a home—it’s a space to slow down, rooted in Diamond Creek’s peaceful setting and tailored to modern life’s need for quiet respite.
